Bound 2 Remember President, Pete DeLuca shares his account of his life changing experience:
In an attempt to give back to the community, I contacted the producers of ABC's hit show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with an offer to donate our printing and binding services. My kids and my wife and I just love the show. We wanted to be a part of the giving.
After the producers of the show asked to review our website and product line, they accepted my offer and the proverbial "clock started ticking"!
When we found our who the family was that was going to receive a hardbound personal memory book, it was extra special moment being that the family lived just 3 hours north of us in Tuba City, Arizona.
The parents and children of Lori Piestewa, the only Native American woman killed in combat on foreign soil, was about to be surprised with a beautiful 5000+ sq. ft. home.
Now, instead of just printing a "photos only" book for the family, which would have been a heck of a lot less stressful, we decided to solicit the help of our digital scrapper customer base to help us give the deserving family something "extra special".
After picking up 100+ photographs from the show's producer, we had a team of 20 talented designers submit over 60 layouts creating two very unique and special hardbound memory books in a 3-day span.
It was then time to print and bind the digital layouts. We would normally ask for 2-3 weeks on a project like this. However to make this happen, we were forced to get it done in one day! It was a close call. But the books got there...10 copies and all were covered differently. Whew!
As you can imagine the opportunity to be on a national TV show was exciting. I was sitting on the edge on the edge of my seat waiting for that shot of myself or the books. But it wasn't until I heard the family talk about how grateful they were for being just being alive, and how they miss their daughter so much, that I realized what I was a part of. Watching the show was very humbling experience.
It was an honor to be apart of something so meaningful and to give such a wonderful family a great keepsake. I'm proud to be in the memory preservation business.
